Drogheda United
Having scored 14 goals in their opening two games, some Drogheda supporters can be forgiven for expecting an easy ride as they aim for an immediate return to the Premier Division.

Rookie manager Tim Clancy has fitted in seamlessly at United Park with his side undefeated at home while playing with an attacking based philosophy that has reaped rewards with 37 goals to date.

A seven point gap to First Division leaders UCD may be too much overturn for the Boynesiders but a top four finish should be well within their grasp.

Mid-Season Rating: B
Despite back-to-Back defeats to UCD and Longford Town before the mid-season break, the Drogs are still sitting second in the league and they will hope to consolidate their play-off spot between now and the season’s end.

Best Player: Mark Doyle
The young winger was given his first real taste of first-team football under Pete Mahon last season but he’s kicked on this year and with seven goals to his name, he’s Drogheda’s biggest attacking outlet.

Most Promising Newcomer: Ciaran Kelly
Signed from St Pat’s Under-19’s side, the young centre-back has played every minute of First Division football to date and with three goals so far, he’s also a threat from set-pieces.

Area They Need To Strengthen: Bench
Drogheda have no obvious weaknesses across their starting XI but they lack options off the bench and finding a game changer in the attacking third will be Clancy’s main aim in July.
