Goals from Lukas Schubert, Ronan Curtis, Aaron McEneff, and Rory Holden secured a 4-0 win for Derry City at Maginn Park yesterday afternoon against Sligo Rovers. The Candystripes put on a fantastic second half display to cruise past the Bit o’ Red and go two points behind Bray Wanderers with a game in hand.  It was a much-needed victory for the Foylesiders after coming off the back of a 10-2 aggregate defeat to FC Midtylland in the Europa League first qualifying round.  Speaking after the match, assistant manager Hugh Harkin was thrilled with the team. “Three points and a clean sheet, we’re absolutely delighted,” Harkin said.  “Delighted with the whole performance of the whole team today. I think every man, coming off the back of the two European games, gives they’re all again.  “The commitment levels and the energy levels that they showed were fantastic. The keeper (Schlingermann) made a couple of great saves and you think it’s not going to be our day, but we were solid and we just kept playing and eventually we ran out 4-0 winners,” he said.  Hugh Harkin previously worked with the Derry City youth setup for 15 years before being appointed assistant manager by Kenny Shiels in 2016.  One of the players Harkin worked with for several years was 19-year-old Rory Holden, who scored his first career goal for The Candystripes yesterday afternoon.  “It’s great for the kid, he’s been patient and he’s been waiting to come in. When you’ve got Barry McNamee, Aaron McEneff, and Nicky Low it’s hard for the likes of a young kid like that to come in and get in.  “He took his opportunity in the European games. We just needed a wee bit more experience, going in against Sligo, coming off the back of the European games. So, we started with Barry (McNamee) even though he’s coming back from injury.  “I’m absolutely delighted for Rory Holden, he’s a great kid and the way he took his goal was fantastic,” he said.
