Dundalk will be hoping to put their European woes behind them when they host Shamrock Rovers this Sunday at Oriel Park.
The Lilywhites' Champions League dream was ended when they were knocked out by Rosenborg over two legs. Stephen Kenny's side put up a spirited display away from home to win 1-0 after 90 minutes, but conceded in extra-time which allowed Rosenborg to progress.
Kenny's side have all but secured second place in the league, barring a complete disaster. However, they are still 15 points behind leaders Cork City who still have a game in hand. A defeat to Shamrock Rovers this weekend would all but end any chance they may have of catching the Southerners.
Shamrock Rovers make up one of three teams vying for third place alongside Bray and Derry. The Tallaght outfit have also played in Europe midweek, and their most recent league game was a 1-0 defeat to Sligo Rovers at the Showgrounds.
Stephen Bradley will be hoping his side can move up to third position in the coming weeks, and a victory here would go a long way to achieving that. They sit one point behind Bray, but they crucially have one game in hand.
