Preview: North Dublin Derby live on TG4 headlines SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division Round 15
A full round of SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division action takes place this Saturday as League leaders welcome in-form Sligo Rovers to Athlone, while Shelbourne travel the short distance to Dalymount Park for a North Dublin Derby live on TG4.
Third place Galway United visit the RSC to face Waterford with all games except the Bohemians v Shelbourne game live on LOITV.
Bohemians v Shelbourne (Live on TG4)
Saturday’s late kick-off is a North Dublin Derby between Bohemians and Shelbourne at Dalymount Park. Bohs have taken four points from their last two games, with Jane Smyth’s 85th minute equaliser rescuing a draw at the RSC after Savannah Kane’s late winner against Galway United the previous Tuesday.
The two sides have met four times this season across the League, Women’s All-Island Cup and FAI Cup with Saturday’s meeting being the fifth this season and will be broadcast live on TG4 with coverage starting from 19:15.
Athlone Town v Sligo Rovers
League Champions and current leaders Athlone Town have won their last three League games 3-0, with Izzy Ryan, Hannah Waesch and Hazel Donegan all on target in last Saturday’s win at Ferrycarrig Park.
Sligo Rovers arrive unbeaten in 10 League games with Gracie Dunaway’s goal last weekend earning them a point against Galway United. The Bit O’ Red are one of only three sides to take points off Athlone Town this season, after a 1-1 draw on the opening day of the season in March.
Cork City v DLR Waves
The bottom two meet at Munster FA Turner’s Cross with just three points separating the two sides. Cork City have gone five games without a win since June’s 6-0 win against Peamount United and suffered a 5-0 defeat at Markets Field last Saturday.
The sides drew 1-1 in the reverse fixture at the UCD Bowl in May, with Zoe Finnerty’s second-half goal cancelling out Siun Murdiff’s opener.
Waterford v Galway United
Waterford remain without a home win this season but have drawn their last two games, coming from behind to lead against Bohs last Saturday before conceding a late equaliser with Fiana Bradley scoring in her last two outings.
Galway United sit third with just one loss all season, though Phil Trill’s side have won just once in their last five League games. The sides drew 1-1 at Moyne Villa in June with Mia Lenihan’s goal in the last 10 minutes rescuing a point for the Blues.
Peamount United v Shamrock Rovers
Peamount United won the earlier meeting between the two sides 2-0 at Tallaght thanks to goals from Sophie Byrne and Sorcha Melia, with it being one of the Hoops only three losses this season.
Shamrock Rovers are unbeaten in four and won 2-0 against DLR Waves last weekend with the Hoops winning four out of their seven away games this season.
Wexford v Treaty United
Wexford’s unbeaten home record ended last Saturday after their 3-0 loss to Athlone Town while Treaty United recorded their biggest win of the campaign yet with a convincing 5-0 win against Cork City with braces from Madison McGuane and Katie Lawlee.
