Ahead of the new SSE Airtricity League 2017 season, we caught up with Bray Wanderers forward Dylan Connolly to see what he thinks ahead of the new campaign. Q: Dylan, Bray Wanderers had a fantastic 2016 season, is the ambition this year just to build on that? DYLAN: Yes, definitely. It was a great end to the season for us breaking those club records and we’ve been able to keep a lot of players. We’ve also added some good quality as well so we’re definitely looking to push on this year. It would be nice to win a trophy or two. Q: What was the secret behind the form last year which saw Bray claim sixth spot in the SSE Airtricity League? DYLAN: It was remarkable really. We won two, three games and we didn’t stop. It became a habit to go and win football matches and the squad just kept getting better and better. We obviously beat Dundalk on the way and I think it showed how good the players in our squad are. We added two or three bodies in as well along the way and everyone just clicked, it was great. Q: Bray were struggling in the relegation zone at one point, did Harry Kenny just form a good team spirit around the club? DYLAN: When Harry came in, you could see how good his man-management is and was able to get the best out of players. Liam O’Brien came in as well and his training session was outstanding and really brought the levels up which we were able to put out on the pitch. Everyone just worked hard for each other and it was great to see it come off. Q: You’ve re-signed at Bray and a number of other players, could this be a good year for the club? DYLAN: I signed back at the club wanting to do well, I don’t do things half-hearted and wouldn’t expect any of my team-mates to do that either. I felt like I had a point to prove coming back from Ipswich Town. What’s the point in playing if you don’t want to win stuff and I think we could do that this year.
