Luke Clucas’ injury equaliser salvaged a point for Cabinteely and denied Athlone a first victory since last March.

It seemed it would prove lucky 13 for the Westmeath side as two goals in four minutes appeared to set them on the course for victory.

But substitute Clucas chest controlled fellow reserve Kieran Marty Waters pass to angle a half volley in from ten-yards to level the game deep into stoppage time.

The action packed second period was just four minutes old when the visitors broke the dead-lock with a move straight off the training ground. Paul Fox’s short corner was brilliantly whipped in from the left right-footed. Manley arrived to power in a bullet close range header.

Somewhat against the run of play, the Midlanders equalised on 71 minutes. Kaleen Strawbridge-Simon embarked on a mazy run along the right wing. He played in Evan Pierce whose low drive on the shit crept in at the near post.

They went 2-1 up just three minutes later. Aaron Brilly’s cross form wide right wasn’t dealt by the away defence. Dean Williams span to shoot with the ball taking a wicked deflection past Stephen McGuinness.

Despite De Town looking on course for a much needed victory they couldn't hold on and had to settle for a point.
