Longford come from two goals down to go through to the next round in a memorable game at Athlone Town Stadium.

Athlone took an early lead from the penalty spot through Conor Barry, as the Longford keeper, Jack Brady got a hand to it but couldn’t keep it out.

Raftery made it two after Brady spilled the ball out of his hands. Moments later Longford were back in it. David O’Sullivan, who scored a hat trick the last time these two sides met, gave Longford hope.

Longford started the better in the second half and their pressure was too much. O’Sullivan again with the goal. However Athlone quickly restored their lead through substitute Walter Invernizzi with a calm finish.

Their didn’t last long though as O’Sullivan got his second hat trick in a row against Athlone. And then came the winner. Cody Mulhall with a dazzling run on the right with the winner as he put the ball through Connor Gleeson’s legs.

Longford deserve the win for their second half performance, although Athlone will be questioning themselves how they let a two goal lead slip and the fact they were leading twice in the game.
