Bohemians dominated possession in the opening quarter of the game, playing some excellent one and two touch football, as they looked to take the game to the visitors.

Keith Ward had a couple of attempts blocked from the edge of the box and Danny Grant looked a threat again on the right wing. The chance of a hugely entertaining first half fell to Eoghan Stokes who showed great pace to break the offside trap from Dan Casey’s long ball. The touch was sublime to kill the ball but his lob with the left foot was just too heavy and sailed over.

With the hosts dominating the first half, Tommy Barrett was forced into a tactical switch, going with three centre-backs to try and halt the onslaught, which seemed to work as Limerick looked a lot more solid at the back.

Right on the stroke of half-time Shane Tracy had a huge chance for the away side. He was picked out cleverly by the impressive Cian Coleman in the box, but was forced into rushing his shot which was turned around at the near post.

The second half was a much scrappier affair with a lot of stoppages but the home side continued to have the lion's share of possession but the back five of Limerick held firm. The enigmatic Ward thought he had broke the deadlock with just 10 minutes left. His corner was cleared back out and he showed great feet to cut inside onto his left foot and smash to the far post only to see the figure of Shaun Kelly standing big to clear off the line.

The home side prodded away for the elusive winner and even the introduction of Dinny Corcoran couldn’t pay dividends as the final whistle was greeted with frustrating groans around Dalymount Park.

The draw keeps both sides level on points with nine a piece but Keith Long and his troops will feel that this was a big two points dropped.
