It was Super Supple as Bohemians reached the quarter-final stage of the IRN-BRU Scottish Challenge Cup at Dalymount Park.

After normal time ended goalless, Bohemians progressed on penalties thanks to Shane Supple's heroics against English National League side Sutton United.

It was a real clash of styles as Keith Long's Bohemians showed the same passing, patient style of play which has recently served them so well in the SSE Airtricity League. However, their style of play got them into a bit of trouble at times and could have fell behind.

In the 14th minute, former Galway United and Sligo Rovers loanee Jonah Ayunga dispossessed Cornwall and found Craig Eastmond but his shot was well saved by Supple. Bohemians should have took the lead just 10 minutes later when the home side sprung the off-side trap and Daniel Kelly somehow put his effort wide.

Sutton's Tom Bolarinwa forced an impressive finger-tip save out of Supple on the half-hour as the sides went into the break level. The second-half continued in the same vein as Ayunga forced a great save out of Supple with 20 minutes remaining before Dan Byrne's free-header was easily saved by Worner in the 74th minute.

Sutton almost won the game in the final minute but former Cork City U19 player Aaron Drinan placed his header narrowly wide to see the game go to penalties.

It looked as though Bohemians were heading out as Oscar Brennan and Eoghan Stokes missed their penalties to put Sutton United into a 3-2 shoot-out lead. Substitute Kieron Cadogan saw his spot-kick saved by Supple before the Bohemians keeper smashed his penalty home.

Dan Byrne scored Bohemians' next penalty and saw Aswad Thomas hit the cross-bar with the next spot-kick to seal the victory for the SSE Airtricity League side. They will now go into the hat for the IRN-BRU Scottish Challenge Cup quarter-finals.
