Bohemians maintained their hoodoo over Shamrock Rovers with a 1-0 victory at Dalymount Park.

A packed-to-the-rafters Dalymount Park played host to the fiercest of Dublin Derbies as the old rivals locked horns, putting their 100% starts to the season on the line.

The visitors dominated posession in the opening quarter of an hour, with Jack Byrne and Aaron McEneff looking busy, but not much in the way of a goal threat. Then the home side began to grow into the game.

The pacey Luke Ward-Slater began to look a real threat down the right side and the Gypsies really should have made their mini bout of pressure count.

A drilled corner from Keith Ward was flicked on at the near post and Darragh Leahy found himself free at the back post, but the left back headed straight at the grateful Alan Mannus as Dalymount Park gasped in disbelief.

The footballing came to a crashing halt when Aaron Greene saw red for a flying tackle on Ward, in the game's first real flash point.

Bohs struggled to make the man advantage count at the start of the second half as the reshuffled Shamrock Rovers side sat in their shape well and looked dangerous on the break through sub Dan Carr.

Ward then seemed to grab the game by the scruff of the neck and began to cause Joey O’Brien all sorts of problems down the left hand side.

A ding dong battle ensued and it was through this avenue that the Gypsies finally broke the deadlock. Ward burst into the box towards the endline, cleverly cutting across the full back who brought him down. Up stepped Corcoran to calmly slot the ball to the bottom corner directly in front of the raucous Rovers support and take all three points in the process.
