It was a Friday the 13th nightmare for Keith Long in terms of team selection, missing the likes of Danny Mandroiu, Darragh Leahy and Keith Buckley.

But with not even ten minutes on the clock the home fans and players alike couln’t believe they didn’t grab the lead. Scott Allardice did well getting to the end line before picking out Andre Wright.

The front mans low effort was brilliantly saved by Matthew Connor but could only push it into the path of luke Wade-Slater and, with the goal at his mercy, somehow contrived to hit the bar from just yards out.

Bohs were made to pay for this almost instantly as Blues skipper Rory Feely rose highest in the box to power a downward header home, despite James Talbot’s best efforts pushing it out and onto Wade-Slater and in.

The wide open affair continued as Wright had a couple of efforts from distance, quickly followed by the lively Walter Figeira smacking the foot of the post. Ross Tierney, a real bright spark for the home side, was at the heart of everything good as they pressed for an equalizer.

James Finnerty missed a header from point blank range from a Wade-Slater delivery, just before Ryan Graydon was put through one on one, only for Connor to save sharply at his feet. The equaliser did eventually come just before the hour mark, substitute Danny Grant made an immediate impact cutting in from the left wing, firing a low shot / cross into the area, and Tierney reacted sharply to divert the ball past Connor.

Just as a draw looked on the cards, up popped Tom Holland to ping a beautiful left footed strike into the top corner, latching onto Michael O’Connors clever back heel.

The result puts a huge dent in the race for Europe but Keith Long’s charges face a quick turnaround with a huge clash away in Richmond Park against Crumlin Utd in the FAI Cup quarter final.
