Bohemians sealed an impressive 3-0 victory over the Students ahead of the Dublin Derby on Tuesday.

The Students enjoyed large spells of possession, creating chances with ease. Richie O’Farrell, Jason McClelland and Neil Farrugia all had efforts on target as Bohs struggled to lay a glove on their opponents in the opening exchanges.

Bohs had James Talbot to thank for keeping the score at 0-0, pulling off arguably the save of the season from Yoyo Mahdy who smashed his effort towards the roof of the net from inside the area.

But just as the UCD front man looke to reel off in celebration the Bohs stopper showed incredible reactions to touch the ball onto the bar. The home side started to turn the tide slowly, pressing high and getting shots away of their own.

Danny Grant began to to see a lot more of the ball and caused Mark Dignam all sorts of problems as the half wore on and just before the break it was this avenue that paid dividends with the pacey wide man being hauled down in the box.

Up stepped Dinny Corcoran, who made no mistake from the spot to get his fifth of the season. The Gypsies came flying out of the traps in the second half and doubled their lead just six minutes in through Conor Levingston’s quality side footed finish from the edge of the area, following Grant’s clever cut back.

And man of the match Grant got the goal his performance deserved minutes later. Danny Mandroiu smashed a low drive into the bottom corner only for Kearns to touch onto the post and the Bohs winger was quickest to react to tap home and put the game beyond the visitors who will feel hard done by going by the scoreline having dominated the ball throughout.
