Bohs see off ten man Pat's in one of the games of the season with a hard fought 3-2 win in front of a jammed Dalymount Park. A rip-roaring opening quarter of an hour saw 3 goals and a dismissal as Bohs raced into a 2-1 lead. Ismahil Akinade powered home a wonderful header from Paddy Kavanagh's pinpoint cross after just three minutes. But the visitors, scrapping for their lives, went straight down the opposite end and equalised through Christy Fagan, firing home his low drive under Shane Supple. Just minutes later the Saints task was made all the more difficult when Gaviin Peers hauled down the extremely impressive Akinade who was clear through on goal. Referee Ben Connolly was left with no option but to show the red card and Dinny Corcoran cooly slotted home the resulting spot-kick to make it 2-1. Corcoran, and Keith Ward, both had excellent chances to extend the lead right before one of the saves of the season. Kavanagh, operating from the left wing, cut inside onto his right foot and curled an outstanding effort to the far top corner, but Skowron somehow got his finger tips to the ball at the last second to claw it away. Just six minutes into the second half the hosts extended their lead through top scorer Corcoran for his 15th league goal of the season. Saints'Left back Lee Desmond made an outstanding recovery tackle to halt Akinade's clear path in on goal, but unluckily, saw the ball rebound to Corcoran, who made no mistake hammering home. The visitors showed they wern't done just yet and Christy Fagan pulled one back, skipping in from the right wing and brilliantly finishing with his left foot. With just five minutes remaining, the battling visitors thought they had gotten the equaliser their impressive second half may have deserved when C. Byrne drilled the ball across goal but, defying the laws of physics, Fagan on the stretch managed to scoop the ball onto the cross bar and back out. Massive let off for the hosts as they eventually saw out the game.
