Bray Wanderers advanced to the quarter-finals of the EA Sports Cup courtesy of a penalty shoot-out victory over Premier Division leaders Shamrock Rovers.

Brandon Kavanagh struck the crossbar and Gabriel Sava denied Aaron Greene to pave the way for hometown boy Dylan Barnett to step up and slam home the winner.

It was an entertaining affair with both side's making four changes to their starting XIs and the biggest chance of normal time fell to Orhan Vojic when he rattled the crossbar after being found by Trevor Clarke.

Penalties seemed inevitable when Dylan McGlade smacked the post in the 120th minute and it was the First Division leaders that were more composed from 12 yards with Luka Lovic, Richie Purdy, McGlade and Barnett all netting from 12 yards.
