Neale Fenn’s Longford Town side left Stradbrook with an impressive 2-0 win on Friday night in what was a closely contested and entertaining match.
Sam Verdon and David O’Sullivan got the goals for the visitors in a game that could have had so many more.
Cabinteely had their chances, and should have led in the first half when Kieran Waters missed a chance that he would have expected to score. Longford, though, made the most of their opportunities and looked dangerous whenever they broke forward, with Don Cowan putting in a player-of-the-match performance before his 78th minute substitution.
The hosts were awarded a penalty late on, but Waters again failed to get the better of Jack Brady who pulled off a fine save stretching to his right.
