Robbie Manley’s double saw Cabinteely join Longford in joint-three in the SSE Airtricity League First Division.

It was a night of records for the White and Greens at Stradbrook as their 11th league win in a season was their best ever in a single campaign while their points tally of 39 was also a season’s best.

The away side had an early chance when Aaron Dobbs fired straight at Stephen McGuinness who parried clear in the sixth minute. Having weathered an early storm, the South Dublin side hit the front on 36 minutes.

Shane Barnes played in Manley. The striker’s initial shot was saved by Lee Steacy. But Manley followed up to score from a tight angle. The Midlanders had gone close to equalising on 63. Aodh Dervin played in Sam Verdon.

He squared for new signing on loan from Shamrock Rovers Sam Boyd. But his attempt came back off the post. Manley had a second half glancing header drop wide (75) before he shot just wide on 85.

In between, McGuinness smothered Verdon’s bullet 82nd header of Aodh Dervin’s centre. Deep into stoppage time, it became 2-0. Yuta Sasaki harried for possession. Keith Dalton crossed and First Division top-scorer Manley gathered at the front post before firing in low.
