Rob Manley created a new First Division scoring record for Cabinteely in a dominant win over Limerick.

The forward scored twice in the first period at Stradbrook to take his tally to 16 goals this season. It also ended their hoodoo of never beating the Shannonsiders in all competitions.

The 3-0 success also saw Cabo defeat every other side in the First Division – the only club to do so far this season.

The South Dublin side needed just four minutes to break the dead-lock. Daniel Blackbyrne found Paul Fox down the left channel. He turned a defender inside out and crossed right-footed with the unmarked Manley stooping to score from close range header at the back post.

Midfielder Vilius Labutis then rattled the crossbar from distance in the sixth minute. The woodwork denied Manley again in the 20th minute as his effort from the edge of the box clipped the bar.

Manley had a disputed goal ruled out for offside on the half hour with the ball appearing to come off a Limerick player before the striker netted. But there was no doubt about his 16th league goal on 33 minutes.

Blackbyrne emerged with the ball wide right after a strong tackle. His pinpoint cross saw Manley steer in another header. The home side need just four minutes of the second period to add to their tally. Manley turned provider as he squared for Keith Dalton to drill to the roof of the net from 15-yards.

Limerick’s cause wasn’t helped by the 61st minute red card to Tomas O’Connor.
