Filippo Giovagnoli’s tenure begins with a win as a rocket from Dane Massey and a penalty from David McMillan books the Lilywhites a place in the quarter-finals.
Ramblers put up stubborn resistance in the opening stages of the game and it was going to take a moment of real quality to break them down. That moment came in the 29th minute when Michael Duffy found the onrushing Dane Massey who fired home an incredible left-footed effort in off the bar.
The Lilywhites secured the win in the 75th minute when Greg Henry took down Daniel Kelly in the area and David McMillan slotted home the resulting penalty to secure the quarter-final spot.
