Finn Harps emerged from a closely fought contest with a 2-0 victory at St. Colmans Park on Saturday evening.

The opening exchanges were dominated by Harps with Ciaran O'Connor and John O'Flynn going close. In the 32nd minute, a low corner into the Ramblers box fell to O'Flynn who skewed just wide.

Cobh were contained to shooting from distance in a tense first half. The second period continued in much the same vein as Harps continued to control the pace.

O'Connor had the ball in the net in the 52nd minute for the visitors but it was correctly flagged offside.

Ramblers grew into the game as the half progressed and missed two glorious from Leonard and Taylor. But they were made to pay when a free-kick in the 82nd minute was initially saved by Paul Hunt but O'Flynn rifled home the rebound.

Ramblers pushed for an equaliser but a mistake in defence in added time saw O'Connor tap home to complete the visitor's victory
