Ramblers took early control of this match and should have lead in the 6th minute when Mylod rounded Corbet but he sliced his shot wide with the goal at his mercy.
As the game wore on, UCD grew in confidence with McClelland and Kelly looking more threatening.
The best chance of the half fell to UCD's Kelly when he ghosted in between McCarthy and McSweeney to connect with a powerful header. Paul Hunt was beaten but the ball went agonisingly wide for the league's top scorer.
Jason McClelland missed a further chance for UCD when his half volley from inside the box was narrowly wide.
The second half saw Ramblers grow in confidence with players like Donnellan and Coleman beginning to dictate proceedings. Their dominance was rewarded in the 71st minute when Darren Murphy found the net.
The ball broke to the edge of the box and after neatly side stepping the defender, Murphy's unleashed a ferocious left footed shot that beat Corbet. UCD increased the tempo and Kovogun missed a glorious chance in the final minutes for the students.
Ramblers held out for a crucial 3 points.
