Cobh Ramblers and Cabinteely played out an entertaining 1-1 draw at St. Colman’s Park on Saturday evening.

Cabinteely began the brighter of the two sides with Alex Aspil going close for the visitors as early as the second minute, but he failed to direct his free header on target.

Against the run of play, Ramblers took the lead through Bryan Murphy. Ian Turner and Charlie Fleming combined well down the right and when the latter crossed into the box, Murphy stooped low to power a header past McGuinness.

Despite the goal, Cabinteely were in control and went close through Kieran Waters and Robert Manley. However, their dominance eventually paid off when Paul Fox tapped home after Zak O’ Neill did well to get to the by-line and play it across the six-yard box.

Ramblers almost retook the lead moments later but Stephen O’ Leary’s shot struck the post before Mickey Foley’s follow up was brilliantly saved by McGuinness.

The second half saw Cabinteely continue to control much of the possession. Chances were limited but Waters did spurn a glorious opportunity when after being played in down the left side he rifled his shot into the side netting.

The visitors pushed for a winner in the closing stages but for all their possession they could not find a way through the Ramblers defence. In the end, both teams had to settle for a point.
