Limerick defeat Cockhill Celtic 2-0 in Donegal to put themselves in the draw for the next round of the FAI Cup.

The first half ended level but goals in the second half from Killian Brouder and Barry Maguire ensured their place in the next round. The first half saw little in the way of clear cut chances, with Cockhill squandering the best chance.

Limerick had a few half chances, with Morrissey going the closest. Cockhill perhaps should have taken the lead inside five minutes, James Bradley in the midfield ran forward before squaring it in the box for Gerard McLaughlin, who was unmarked and had time but panicked and hit his shot wide of the left hand post.

Limerick's chances weren't as clear cut as that one by their opposition but Danny Morrissey had a couple of headers saved, his best was from a cross from the right by William Fitzgerald, Morrissey met the header well but Gavin Cullen saved from close range.

The rain started to fall as the half ended with the score all level. The spectators didn't have to wait long after the restart for the opening goal as two tactical substitutions from Limerick lead to thm taking the lead.

Good build up play ended with Killian Brouder taking a long shot from about 30 yards, it was a daisy cutter that got the better of Cullen as it went into his bottom left corner. Cockhill fought back but were getting visibly fatigued.

Limerick came close to adding a second via Duggan but the onrushing Cullen saved the midfielders chipped effort. It mattered little approachinh the half way point in the half as Limerick scored a second.

Karl O'Sullivan made his way down the right before hitting in a low cross, with Barry Maguire waiting in the centre to slot home into the same corner as their earlier goal.

Cockhill's tiredness was evident as Limerick looked to put the game to bed and had multiple chances, only for a few outstanding saves from Cullen. As the game entered added time, Limerick ran down the clock to see themselves through to the next round.
