Cork City’s winless run in the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division now stands at seven matches while Bohemians stretched their own unbeaten run to six as the sides played out a scoreless draw at Turner’s Cross on Friday night.

City started brightly as they looked to earn their first win since they beat U.C.D 1-0 on the road back on the 20th of May with Karl Sheppard forcing a good save from James Talbot early on.

The Cork captain again went close before the half time break but his powerful shot was straight at the visiting goalkeeper shortly before Keith Ward headed over from good position at the other end.

The second half was a similar tale as Robbie McCourt fired over for Bohs and Gearoid Morrissey did likewise for Cork just before the hour mark.

With a quarter of an hour remaining, the Gypsies created their best opportunity of the night but Darragh Leahy’s towering header from a corner was brilliantly saved by Mark McNulty before City finally scrambled the ball clear.

Both sides had chances late on with Keith Ward curling an attempt narrowly wide of the far top corner for Bohs while Gearoid Morrissey dragged a long-range strike just past the far bottom left corner as the two teams settled for a share of the spoils.
