Cork City secured their first home win of the new SSE Airtricity League season as they deservedly defeated Bohemians 2-0 at Turner's Cross on Friday evening.

Conor McCarthy gave City the lead with 23 minutes on the clock as he rose highest to head Daire O'Connor's corner into the back of the net from a couple of yards.

Bohemians never truly threatened the City goal although Danny Mandroiu was guilty of spurning a couple of the good chances that fell to him in the first half.

John Caulfield's side started the second period perfectly as Dan Casey blasted in a free kick from 25 yards against the club he left in the off season.

Bohs had no response as they fell to their first defeat of the season whilst City made it 3 wins in 4 games thanks to their first home goals of the season.
