Cork City progressed to the semi-finals of the EA Sports Cup as they defeated holders St Patricks Athletic at Turner's Cross on Monday afternoon.
Second-half goals from Connor Ellis and Stephen Dooley was enough to see City progress to the final four of the Cup whilst making it 14 wins in a row in all competitions so far this season.
After a cagey first half, City started the second half brightly and they took the lead in the 68th minute when Conor Ellis tucked home after his initial effort came back off the goalkeeper.
The Leesiders made sure of the victory in injury time as St Pat’s piled players forward in search of an equaliser, Stephen Dooley raced clear before calmly rounding the goalkeeper and slotting in from a few yards to seal the victory.
