Cork City made it two wins out of two at the beginning of John Cotter’s interim reign in charge of the club as they deservedly defeated U.C.D 2-0 at Turner’s Cross on Friday night.
City played some good football in the first half and that was aided by a fifth minute goal from Karl Sheppard, who forced the ball home at the back post for his first league finish of the season.
U.C.D still had their chances though and the best of those fell to Josh Collins at the beginning of the second half but the centre back was unlucky to see his half volley cannon off the underside of the crossbar.
The Leesider’s would seal just their second home league victory of the season moments later as Graham Cummins brilliantly slotted Kevin O’Connor’s superb cross into the bottom left corner.
