Neale Fenn’s first game in charge of Cork City ended in defeat as they were beaten 4-2 by Sligo Rovers in their SSE Airtricity league Premier Division clash at Turner’s Cross on Friday night.

Sligo took the lead on 31 minutes as Romeo Parkes breezed past the defence before expertly tucking the ball under the advancing Mark McNulty.

But City levelled two minutes later as Dan Casey headed home from a corner despite the best efforts of the defence on the line.

Rovers retook the lead before the break as Ronan Coughlan found the bottom left corner after some more poor defending from the Cork rearguard.

Sligo added a third on the hour when Parkes hammered Twardek’s cross into the roof of the net for his second of the night.

Shane Griffin’s sensational finish into the top left corner from distance gave the majority of the 2,469 crowd hope but it wasn’t to be Fenn’s night as Coughlan added a fourth late on following an error from McNulty.
