Cork City stretched their lead at the top of the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division to four points as they comprehensively defeated Bohemians 3-0 at Turner's Cross on Monday afternoon.

After a slow opening, City took the lead after 18 minutes as Jimmy Keohane's strike from the edge of the penalty area deflected off Graham Cummins before nestling in the net.

And the champions doubled their lead just three minutes as the referee pointed to the penalty spot following Rob Cornwall's handball. Sadlier stepped up and coolly drilled his penalty into the top left corner for his fifth goal of the league season, with four of those coming from the spot.

Following an uneventful second half which almost livened up when Eoghan Stokes hit the post from a corner for Bohemians, Karl Sheppard sealed the win for City with a late strike.

The striker grabbed his first league goal of the season when smashed Barry McNamee's short free into the top left corner to complete a comfortable afternoons work for the Leesiders.
