Derry City failed to win for the sixth consecutive game as they drew with Limerick at Maginn Park.

The Candystripes could have moved into fourth place with the win but they couldn't stop Limerick from taking a point away with them. It was Limerick who took the lead after twelve minutes when Shane Duggan took his shot from distance and it paid off when his strike ended up in the back of the net.

Derry floundered through the first half as they couldn't get their rhythm going to the frustration of Kenny Shiels and the Derry faithful. Rodrigo Tosi almost doubled Limerick's lead after 37 minutes when he to had a shot from distance, but the Brazilian couldn't keep his effort low and it went out for a goal kick.

In the second half, Derry City started much more brightly and there was only one team who looked like scoring and that's what they did just after the hour mark. A fantastic free-kick from Barry McNamee sent Clarke scrambling and the Donegal man got his side level and took his tally to five goals for the season.

After the goal, the Candystripes were firmly in control, but Dean Jarvis almost gifted Limerick the lead when he played a short pass to Gerard Doherty, who got his full-back out of jail, pulling off a fantastic save.

This would have been the perfect time for Derry City to get back to winning ways, but the result was a fair one in the end, as Limerick dug in and played out a very professional performance at Maginn.
