The opening minutes of the game didn't bring much entertainment to the respectable crowd at Maginn Park and it was probably Derry City's worse spell of the game, but still, the Candystripes played quite comfortable football.

After the half hour mark, Derry City received a dangerous free-kick outside the area and Aaron McEneff delivered a fantastic ball into the box and Dean Jarvis headed it home to give the Foylersiders the lead for the first time since March 18.

The second half brought more of the same and Bohemians offered very little going forward the entire game.

After 66 minutes Dan Byrne brought down Ben Doherty inside the box and the referee Robert Harvey awarded Derry a penalty kick. Aaron McEneff stepped up, scored and celebrated, but the Derry midfielder was called back to retake the penalty by Mr.Harvey. However, it didn't faze the local boy and he stood up again and fired the ball into the back of the net to give his side a comfortable 2-0 lead.

It was pretty much game over with 20 minutes to go. Both teams didn't offer anything and the game fizzled out. Great result for the Candystripes, who got their first win in eight games since beating Drogheda United 4-0 in March and they move up to fourth place with a game in hand against Galway to come on Monday night.

Bohemians now find themselves in eighth place and only three points outside the relegation zone and the Dubliners could find themselves in trouble if they continue to perform like they did tonight.
