Derry City scored three second-half goals to complete a comeback victory over Cork City at the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium.

The Candystripes completed the impressive comeback thanks to two quick-fire goals just after the break and a last-minute goal from substitute James Akintunde.

The Leesiders took the lead with just three minutes on the clock as goalkeeper Peter Cherrie failed to deal with a lofted free-kick and Joseph Olowu pounced to score Cork's first away goal this season.

Declan Devine must have read the riot act at the break as Derry didn't take long to take the lead. With five minutes gone in the second-half, Walter Figueira took advantage of Mark McNulty's error to equalise. With their next attack, the home side took the lead as Ibrahim Meite's impressive run saw his effort parried into the path of Adam Hammill, who was given a simple finish for his first Derry goal.

Cork continued to press forward for an equaliser but were dealt a sucker-punch in the 95th minute as Akintunde produced a neat finish into the bottom right-hand corner to seal the win.
