The game was called to a halt for eight minutes early on after a nasty looking landing for Drogheda keeper Stephen McGuinness who was replaced by Ryan Coulter.
Derry enjoyed more of the ball throughout though it was the hosts who created the better chances. Marc Griffin was twice denied in quick succession by the superb Ger Doherty as both sides ultimately settled for a point.
Drogheda will travel to Dalymount Park next week to face Bohemians while Derry City will host Galway United in the final round of fixtures before the mid-season break.
