Dundalk and Rovers will meet again in a date for the Aviva following a tense 1-1 here in the Tallaght Stadium.

Robbie Benson goal looked on course to sent the Lilywhites to a date at the national stadium, however Brandon Miele's excellent equalizer set up a replay date on Tuesday, October 10th at 7.45pm.

The first real opportunity of the game saw Patrick McEleney try to connect from Dylan Connolly cross however it went wide. The opening goal wasn't long in waiting as O'Donnell took a quick free kick to Gannon, his one two to the captain saw Benson slot it home at the back post to give advantage to the home side.

In a tense first-half, Rovers looked very dangerous on the counter attack using the wings especially down the left that has kept Rogers on his toes. However Dundalk maintained their composure and kept the home fans on their feet with McEleney's curling effort just tipped over by Chencinski.

The second half was a quiet one to start but it burst into life in the 70th minute when a fantastic strike by Brandon Miele was struck to equalise. The ball was sent into Miele from man of the match Ronan Finn and the midfielder fired the ball past Rogers.

This was followed very quickly by a foul on Chris Shields by David McAllister and Neil Doyle had no option to send the Rovers midfielder off. Dundalk thought they had a late winner only for the goal to be disallowed by the referee for a foul in the area from the corner. Dundalk and Rovers will go head to head in the battle of Tallaght in what will be a game that will determine their season.
