St. Patrick's Athletic started the game the better of the two sides but only had themselves to blame when they went behind in the 23rd minute. Luke McNally let the ball run into the feet of Stefan Colovic and he squared the ball to Pat Hoban to finish. However, straight from the restart, Pats went up the other end as Dan Ward found Shane Griffin on the left and he crossed for Robbie Benson to bury the ball to equalise.
