A Patrick Hoban hat-trick along with a sublime effort from Krisztian Adorjan ensured a comfortable 4-0 victory for Dundalk as they put Limerick to the sword in a resolute performance.

With Stephen Kenny forced to make changes, Dundalk didn't look out of sync as the team transition proved to be a masterstroke.

A turning point in the game for Limerick came when Conor Clifford who has been excellent since signing for the super blues in April. With his early departure it meant Dundalk were able to exert their physical dominance in the midfield with Karolis Chvedukas showing his worth to the Dundalk faithful.

After chances falling to both Adorjan and Michael Duffy as the game progressed it was Hoban who struck first. The ball was sent into the area, and it made its way to Hoban on the edge of the area who made no mistake and slammed it past Brendan Clarke.

As the second half proved difficult for Dundalk they got their second virtue of a penalty. After Dylan Connolly was felled Hoban made no mistake in dispatching from the spot. Dundalk fans were on their feet moments later when Adorjan hit a sweet shot into the top right hand corner after Duffy sent a brilliant low pass into the area.

Hoban was the man of the hour however when he grabbed as well deserved hat-trick. Dylan Connolly showing all the cents worth of his transfer fee ghosted past the Limerick defence sent in a teasing cross and Hoban did what he has been has been doing all year.
