In previous years, clubs facing Dundalk post-Europe have had some degree of fortune but that wasn't to be the case for Finn Harps as Dundalk put in a commanding and powerful performance to put five past the Donegal men.

Harps had to tend to matter with ten men for a large majority of the game but Dundalk showed that focus is now on the domestic game. Dundalk started on the front foot as they brought the game to the visitors but had to bide their time.

Despite the efforts from Murray and Kelly of note, it was Daniel Kelly who struck first as he latched onto a loose ball to fly the ball past McGinley. Finn Harps were reduced to ten men following Mark Russell's dismissal. This wasn't going to be Harps night.

In the second half, Dundalk put on the afterburners and put in a commanding performance with goals from Georgie Kelly who put in a great performance upfront. Jamie McGrath was on hand to grab his tenth goal of his Dundalk great in the league and on a night Patrick McEleney started his 100th game for Dundalk he scores two excellent goals to put the game beyond doubt.

The dark rain clouds descended over Oriel Park as the game progressed but make no mistake, this season is bright and this team you feel could have got that extra spark it needed. This team is ready to shine bright in the League.
