As far as performances go this was almost inch-perfect from Dundalk as a four-goal haul from Patrick Hoban and goals from Patrick McEleney and Daniel Kelly secured the Lilywhites - sporting a shade of purple - a place in the EA Sports Cup Final.

A ten-minute hat trick in the first half set not only the ball rolling but also put one foot in the final for Dundalk as Patrick Hoban who netted three times in quick succession to really get the Lilywhites into the grove. Michael Duffy set two up for the striker and Daniel Cleary with the assist for the third to ensure the ball was going home with Hoban tonight, it will sit on the mantlepiece of his already impressive collection of accolades.

Patrick McEleney had stressed there was more to come from him and he scored an excellent goal to put the game beyond doubt. Hoban grabbed his fourth early in the second half but Bohemians bruised but not out grabbed a consolation thanks to an excellently taken goal by Ross Tierney.

Daniel Kelly finished the goal scoring with a brilliant finish against his former employers. The final will see them face Derry City in the Final, the only team to complete a domestic treble.
