Finn Harps came from a goal down to defeat Drogheda United at Finn Park, their first win against the Drogs on home soil since 1998.
Sean Brennan gave the away side the lead going into the break but second half goals from Keith Cowan and Ciaran O'Connor mean Harps walk away with the 3 points. In terms of weather, players and fans alike were treated to the glory of sunshine.
Although it brightened the away kit of Drogheda, likeneing it to the colour of the pitch, it didn't seem to confuse the players who more or less contorlled the first half, showing why they sit second in the league.
It was Finn Harps who had the first chance, with Ciaran O'Connor popping a tame effort at goal after a one-two with BJ Banda. Drogheda struck back almost instantly with Lee Duffy smacking the bar from range.
Sean Brennan was the architect of everything Drogheda and his efforts were rewarded, in a fortunate fashion, to give his team the lead. A free kick roughly 25 yards out on the left side was struck well and took a slight deflection to take in past Ciaran Gallagher and into the top right corner.
Drogheda continued to press and went into the break leading by a goal. Finn Harps came out a different side in the second half, notably because of the introduction of Paddy McCourt, who assisted the equaliser.
A free kick from the left was whipped in and Keith Cowan headed home on the right side. The Former Celtic man had a huge hand in the winner too. Threading the needle with a pass to Jesse Devers in the area, Devers laid it off for Ciaran O'Connor who fired past Paul Skinner.
That was McCourt's last involvement as he limped off shortly after. Drogheda pushed for a leveller of their own as the half wore on with Chris Lyons coming the closest, a low shot from outside the area which rolled just wide of the right hand post. Finn Harps held on to win 2-1.
