Longford Town are now unbeaten in their last five games after a spectacular win away at Finn Harps.

The visitors took a 2-0 lead into the second half which Harps wiped out with two quickfire goals after the restart. But Longford added two more goals to seal the win.

The game started in the worst possible fashion for the hosts as Longford went into an early lead inside five minutes. Karl Chambers lobbed the ball in from the right side and Sam Verdon rose high at the back post to head across goal with Aodh Dervin waiting to hit a volley into the top left corner. Harps’ job got a little bit more complicated just after the 30-minute mark as Longford doubled their lead. Dean Byrne played through Dylan McGlade on the break after a Harps corner and McGlade got his shot off with Ciaran Gallagher getting a strong touch on it but as he turned around could only watch as the ball rolled into his net with the Longford player wheeling away in celebration.

The second goal seemed to kick Harps into life, O’Connor had their best chance of the half after quick thinking from Devers but the formers shot drifted wide of the left hand post. Devers also had an appeal for a penalty turned away as Longford went into break 2-0 up.

Harps started the second half on fire and were offered a route back into game from the spot. Devers was brought down and McCourt stepped up and slotted home. Not five minutes later and the home side had brought the game level. Devers involved again, played through Place who picked his spot and fired into the bottom left corner.

The game wasn't level for long though as Longford replied instantly. A corner from the left fell to Byrne who lobbed it across goal and Sam Verdon was on hand to power home a strong header. Both sides fought for another but it was Longford who sealed the win late in the game. Dean Zambra passed to McGlade in the midfield and the latter ran towards goal, with options on either side but went for goal himself into the bottom left corner.
