Finn Harps continued their great run to jump into second in the league after a good win against Wexford FC.

Unbeaten in 6 games, all clean sheets, Mikey Place gave his side the lead before Jesse Devers doubled the lead. Sam Todd added the third goal for the hosts mid way through the second half to wrap things up.

The game didn’t get off to the fast paced start that many would have expected, with both teams comfortable in possession in the early exchanges. But that comfort level soon changed for Wexford.

A long ball forward from left back with Mikey Place on the receiving end caused chaos between Kelan Gaffney and Ross Kenny. Place had a half chance, his shot was blocked by Kenny and went sky high, as the ball came back towards earth, both defender and keeper went for the ball with Place putting the pressure on.

Both players seemed to miss it as it hit the stretching foot of Place who prodded home. Harps comfort zone was also tested not long after taking the lead but Ciaran Gallagher bailed his side out.

A weak back pass from Sam Todd was chased down by Dean Walsh but Gallagher, determined for another clean sheet, rushed out to clear his lines. Harps moved back into their comfort zone shortly before the half hour mark.

On the left side of the field, Ciaran Coll played a through ball into the are for Mark Coyle who fired across goal, it went past the lot with Jesse Devers on hand at the back post to blast into the roof of the net and double his sides lead.

Harps looked in control as the half wore on, having a few half chances as they went into the break 2 goals up. The second half seemed dull in comparison to the first with very few clear cut chances for either side.

Just after the hour mark Harps scored a third. A corner from the right from Harkin and Sam Todd was in the center to head home. Mark Slater had a good chance to reduce the deficit but his close range header was saved by Gallagher. Harps ran out the clock late on to hold on to yet another clean sheet.
