Finn Harps won for the first time in five league matches to end their poor form while also ending St. Patrick's Athletic recent good form. The result ends a run of 5 straight defeats for Finn Harps, a time in which they scored 1 goal. The result sees Harps go level on points with their opponents who stay ahead due to a superior goal difference. St. Pats started the brighter of the tow teams but it was via the head of Danny Morrissey that Finn Harps took the lead. A Damien McNulty cross was up for grabs and Morrissey beat the defender in the air to get a deft header ahead of the onrushing O'Malley and the ball bounced into an empty net. Morrissey grabbed a second just shy of the 30 minute mark for his 2nd goal for the club and on the day. A mix up in the defence left the former Cork City man to take full advantage as he rounded the keeper before tapping into the open goal. It was 3 before the half time whistle as the returning Packie Mailey rose highest in the area to head home a set piece from Jonny Bonner, it capped off a good first half for Ollie Horgan's side. Finn Harps took their foot off the gas in the second half and almost invited pressure from The Saints offence and they grabbed a goal courtesy of Christy Fagan on the volley. St. Pats continued to press high up the pitch in their bid for a second but Finn Harps held on for to win 3-1.League of Ireland
