Finn Harps hit four past Athlone Town to get back to winning ways in a game which was heavily controlled by the home side.

Jesse Devers opened the scoring on the stroke of half time and second half goals from Ciaran O'Connor, Mikey Place and Niall McGinley wrapped up a comfortable win. The game started slowly but eventually went the way of the home side who cruised after hitting their first chance, a close range shot from Coyle after a short free from McCourt.

Jesse Devers opened the scoring right on the stroke of half time to put his side on their way, Mikey Place played a short pass to McCourt who dribbled into the box before squaring the ball across goal for Devers to tap in.

Ciaran O'Connor doubled the lead not long into the second half with Ciaran Coll providing the assist with an inch perfect cross from the left side for O'Connor to head home from a couple of yards out.

Mikey Place made it three not long after, Cormac Raftery was hesitant after a pass from Mick Fogarty and Place stole the ball before a short run and well placed shot into the bottom right corner.

Finn Harps were not finshed there though as they added a 4th goal on the 80th minute. Michael O'Connor ran down the left wing and played the ball in for his brother Ciaran to lay off for substitute Niall McGinley to slot home into the corner.

The result sees Harps jump up tp 4th in the table while it leaves Athlone firmly rooted to the bottom.
