Galway United went crashing out of the FAI Cup as they were beaten 2-0 by Bohemians at Eamonn Deacy Park thanks to goals from Darragh Leahy and Eoghan Stokes in either half.

The opening goal took just six minutes to arrive, and it was a little fortuitous as Leahy's cross/shot from the left flank swerved viciously to flummox Tadhg Ryan in the Galway goals to land in the back of the net.

The visitors dictated possession from there - a Kevin Devaney header and a Daniel Kelly effort threatened to double the lead, but they couldn't take those chances. Galway woke up before half time, managing to get on the ball as they broke away from their deep shape and began to press - however it would remain 1-0 at half time.

The second half began in disastrous fashion for the hosts as Bohs were awarded a penalty in the 49th minute after Robbie Williams dragged Dan Casey down inside the box, but Ryan produced a brilliant save to deny JJ Lunney from the spot to give the Corribsiders a lift.

Leahy was called upon to produce a goal-line clearance minutes later while Bohs came close through Dinny Corcoran. Substitute Stokes, however, would seal the win in the 78th minute through a delectable free kick from 20 yards, despite a much improved United performance in the final quarter hour.
