Michael Duffy's powerful strike nine minutes from time against Limerick has put Dundalk six points clear at the top of the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division table.

Duffy's shot from the edge of the Limerick penalty area saw Stephen Kenny's men to a 1-0 win. Cork's 2-1 loss to Sligo sees Dundalk take control of the race for the title. It was an even game up to that point with Limerick arguably having the better chances before Duffy's crucial goal.

Limerick looked dangerous on the counter attack but were unable to create anything meaningful with a lucky Cian Coleman effort almost putting them ahead at half time. Connor Ellis then had a cracking effort that flew over at the beginning of the second half. Limerick looked comfortable until Duffy picked up the ball 18-yards from goal and fired low into the bottom corner to hand Stephen Kenny's side a vital win.
