The first-half lacked the intensity often associated with the Premier Division, however, Limerick almost struck the front on the quarter hour. Daniel Kearns was twice denied, first by 16 year old Gavin Bazunu before Joey O’Brien headed off the line.

Shamrock Rovers consolidated fourth position in the table with a comfortable win over Limerick FC at the Markets Field.

Goals in either half from David McAllister and Ronan Finn sealed the three points for Stephen Bradley's side. The home side were well in the game with the score at 0-0, but Rovers took control when McAllister gave them the lead four minutes before the break.

Limerick could have went in front inside a minute when good build up play by Chiedozie Ogbene and Peter Berki set up Dean Clarke inside the penalty area, but he blazed over the bar. James Doona also missed a guilt-edged chance for Rovers, before McAllister gave them a lead at the break with a header from Brandon Miele's cross.

Ronan Finn made sure of the win after the break with a superb finish after Limerick failed to clear a long ball into the box. Rodrigo Tosi came close to getting Limerick back into the game with a glancing header late on, but Rovers were full value for their two goal winning margin.
