A Michael Duffy masterclass helped Dundalk maintain their position at the top of the SSE Airtricity League with a 3-0 win over Limerick FC at the Markets Field. The game was effectively over by half time as goals from John Mountney and Patrick Hoba

Dundalk consolidated second place in the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division table with a comfortable 3-0 win over Limerick FC at the Markets Field.

Two first half goals from David McMillan and a late Sean Gannon effort secured the points for Stephen Kenny's side. The game was a fairly even affair until the 18th minute when Limerick were reduced to 10 men.

Blues keeper Brendan Clarke shown a red card for handling the ball outside his penalty area. Dundalk took control from that moment and took went a goal ahead 11 minutes later from the penalty spot after Patrick McEleney went down under Paul O'Conor's challenge.

McMillan slotted the penalty away with ease and was at it again on 37 minutes. He sent a bullet header into the top corner after a sublime Duffy cross.

If it wasn't for a stunning performance by Limerick sub-keeper Freddy Hall in the second half, it could have got embarrassing for Limerick. Gannon added a third goal for The Lilywhites in the 89th minute to see his side to an easy win.
