Connor Ellis scored the only goal of the game as Limerick FC kept up their fine home record with a 1-0 win over Cabinteely at the Markets Field.

Ellis hit the target after Kieran Hanlon fired off the bar with a close range header in a game that was interrupted for 25 minutes in the second half due to a floodlight failure.

Limerick were the better side throughout and Ellis could have bagged a first half target but missed a couple of guilt edged chances.

He was denied by Stephen McGuinness on one occasion but was off target twice in the first half with chances that on another day he would bury.

Limerick deservedly led at the break and looked to be heading to a comfortable victory when the game was stopped due to the floodlights issue.

A 20 minute break ensued and with the game looking in danger of being abandoned, the lights came on.

Ellis had another great chance towards the end but blazed over after a lung busting 60 yard run. It didn't make a difference to the scoreline as Limerick kept their unbeaten home record intact.
