Sligo Rovers moved ahead of Limerick in the SSE Airtricty League Premier Division table with a 2-1 win at the Markets Field.

An outrageous effort from Rhys McCabe and a Greg Moorhouse goal had Sligo 2-0 up heading into the final stages but Daniel Kearns' late strike gave Limerick hope. However, they were unable to grab an equaliser and subsequently dropped into second bottom place in the table.

Adam Morgan went close to scoring early on for Sligo but was denied by a smart Brendan Clarke stop. Shane Duggan also went close for Limerick on a couple of occasions but the first half ended scoreless.

Limerick almost went ahead early in the second half through Billy Dennehy's lob but was denied by a last gasp Kyle McFadden header Sligo then went in front on 58 minutes through a sublime McCabe effort. He saw Clarke off his line and let fly from a free kick five yards inside his own half.

The Limerick keeper was unable to get back to deny the effort and Sligo went 1-0 up. Moorhouse added a second goal via a deflection off Shaun Kelly before Kearns gave Limerick hope of a point. However, Sligo held on for their third victory of the season.
