Limerick FC have ensured that Cork's celebrations in winning the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division are on ice following a 2-1 victory over the would be Champions at the Markets Field.

Two goals from Rodrigo Tosi and Shane Tracy inside the opening 10 minutes had Limerick in cruise control but Kieran Sadlier soon had Cork back in the game.

John Caulfield's men went in behind at the break but were by far the better side in the second half. They had multiple efforts on goal after the interval but were unable to find a way past Brendan Clarke.

Tosi put Limerick ahead in the third minute when he capitalised on a slip by former blue Robbie Williams. He was left one on one with the advancing Mark McNulty and delicately chipped the ball over the Cork keeper to give Limerick the lead.

The home fans were in dreamland a couple of minutes later when Tracy curled a free kick into the top corner.

Sadlier headed Cork back into the contest and had a late chance to level but could not hit the target from six yards.
