Longford Town suffered defeat in their first home game of the new season falling to a 3-1 loss to outsiders Cobh Ramblers.

After a goalless first-half, Cobh opened the scoring through Karl Caulfield and Ian Mylod doubled their lead shortly after to put the away side in total control of the contest.

The away-day victory in the Midlands was ensured when Kyle McNamara found the net with nine minutes remaining as Stephen Henderson's side claim four points in their first two games of the season.

Cody Mulhall did add a consolation strike for Longford Town, but it was too little too late for Alan Mathews' side who have continued their poor home form from the 2016 season into this campaign.
